ISLAMABAD: The Awami National Party (ANP) on Monday staged a walkout from the Senate in protest of prolonged power outages in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
“Our people are suffering from load-shedding. The motorway and many other roads have been blocked. People are protesting but nobody is here to listen,” said the ANP’s Senator Zahid Khan.
Chairman Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari said that the issue was on the agenda and that they (the ANP) could discuss it in the House.
But, the ANP members contested that even if they agree with the Chairman, the Water and Power Minister was not there to reply and comment on the power crisis.
“If we do not have anybody to resolve the problems of our voters, then there is no reason for us to sit in the House,” Khan remarked as he announced a walk out along with his party colleagues.
