Principal attacked

NAWABSHAH, Dec 19: The principal of the Government Degree College, Nawabshah, Mehmood Ahmad Khand, was attacked by six men when he refused to give 75 per cent attendance to some students of the college.

The attackers, including Akbar Brohi, Khalid Brohi, also threatened the principal with dire consequences.

Later, an FIR was registered with the A-section police station.

PROCESSION: A group of activists of the PPP, Nawabshah, took out a procession against forward bloc members here on Thursday.

The procession started form the party’s office and after marching on the main roads, it terminated at the Nawabshah Press Club.

The protesters were carrying “lotas” in their hands and were chanting slogans.

Faiz Heesbani, a member of the Sindh PPP Council, led the procession.

DEMO: A group of students of the Quaid-i-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology, Nawabshah, staged a protest demonstration opposite the press club here on Thursday against the murder of teacher Liaquat Ali Noonari.

Led by Rasool Bux Chandio, Mazhar Ali Lakho and others, the students were demanding arrest of the killers.

WATER SHORTAGE: More than 20 growers of Jheemal and Chan Babu minors observed a token hunger strike outside the office of the executive engineer, Nusrat irrigation division, here on Thursday against the shortage of water.

They said their lands were being rendered barren due to the non-supply of water.
