Security of mosques, imambargahs checked

 LAHORE, July 29: DIG (Operations) Rai Mohammad Tahir visited on Sunday various mosques and imambargahs across the city to check security arrangements.

He also met administrators of some mosques and imambargahs and apprised them of security arrangements.

The DIG also radioed a message to all divisional SPs to personally visit sensitive mosques and imambargahs in their respective areas at the time of Fajr, Iftar and Taraveeh and keep in touch with their administrations. He directed them to issue security passes to the razakars.The DIG checked the security of Jamia Masjid Hazrat Usman Ghani in Chungi Amar Siddhu and admonished sub-inspector Mohammad Arif over parking of vehicles near the mosque.

Mr Tahir warned the sub-inspector not to let this happen again and ensure vehicles parking at least 10 yards away from mosques and imambargahs.

He ordered the SP (Headquarters) to deploy a sniper on the rooftop of Jamia Masjid in Hasnainabad at the time of Fajr, Iftar and Taraveeh.

He admonished ASI Muhammad Tanveer for allowing the entry of the people into Jamia Masjid Hazrat Umar Farooq in Township through two gates.

He also requested organizers of the mosque to adhere to the security instructions.

The DIG ordered to deploy four officials of the Tiger Squad at Imambargah Bait-ul-Huzan in Iqbal Town at the time of Fajr and Iftar.
