Four of a family die as wall collapses

SUKKUR, July 29: Four members of a family died and two others were seriously injured when the wall of a public library collapsed in Daharki on Sunday.

The people were sitting by the wall while waiting for a vehicle. Suddenly the wall collapsed, killing Hakim Din, 40; his daughter Koonjal, 12; and sons Kelash, 15, and Pupoo, 8; and inuring his wife Laila, 30; and friend Yousuf Malik.

The injured were taken to a hospital in Rahimyar Khan.

Witnesses said six passersby were also injured and taken to a local hospital where two of them were admitted and four wereadministered first aid and allowed to go home.

Local people said the library building, built by philanthropists before partition, was in a dilapidated condition for lack of maintenance and repairs. The library is run by the municipal administration.

The bodies were sent to the village of deceased for burial.

Hakim Din was a farm worker and was scheduled to go to Ghotki along with his family.
