HYDERABAD, Dec 19: The Sindh finance department has released Rs894.161 million to districts for completion of ongoing development schemes under the Sugar Cess Development Fund.
This was stated by Sindh Cane Commissioner Mohammad Siddiq Memon while talking to APP here on Wednesday.
He said the fund would be released to those districts of the province where 27 sugar mills were functional.
He said the finance department released Rs72.050 million to districts on Oct 7, 1999, Rs292.102 million on July 10, 2000, Rs284.697 million on Feb 20, 2002, and Rs245.312 million on April 29, 2002.
The cane commissioner said Hyderabad and Badin districts were the major beneficiaries as six sugar mills each were operating there and, he added, five sugar mills were functioning in the Thatta district, four in the Mirpurkhas district, three in the Nawabshah district and one each in Dadu, Sanghar and Larkana districts.
He said district Nazims had been appointed as chairpersons of these committees.—APP
