MQM’s APC is dubious, says PML- N leader

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA and central secretary general (women wing) Shazia Aurangzeb has said the recent efforts of Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) to organise an All Parties Conference (APC) over various important issues faced by the nation, create doubts at this juncture.

In a statement issued on Saturday, she said that though no political party can deny the importance of negotiations between political parties but it is beyond comprehension that MQM, which is coalition partner in the present central government, had kept silence for the last four and half years and now all of a sudden it is convening the APC.

Aurangzeb said that issues such as target killing in Karachi, law and order situation in Balochistan, confrontation between judiciary and the executive, energy crises and other issues are not new and the present government due to its wrong policies and inefficiency failed to take appropriate steps to overcome these issues.

She said if MQM leadership was sincere, why its chief Altaf Hussain had to wait for four and half long years to come out with this bright idea of holding an APC when the country is moving towards general elections in few months time, she asked.

The PML-N leader said holding of APC after a meeting of the MQM leaders with President Asif Ali Zardari gives rise to more doubts that this exercise might be a ploy to delay the forth coming general elections in the country.

Aurangzeb said the PML-N’s stance is clear on national and international issues which has been reiterated time and again by the party leadership.

It is important for all political stake holders to keep in mind that delay in polls for any reason will not benefit political parties but, will encourage non-political forces to take advantage of the political crises, she added.
