KARACHI, July 22: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has held talks with a foreign firm for the installation of solar power generators to run its pumping stations.

The water utility wants to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the pumping station and claims that electricity loadshedding badly affects the pumping process, besides causing damage to the machinery. With a view to become self-reliant in this regard, the KWSB has initiated negotiations with a Chinese firm, M/s CEEGE Solar Energy Research.

KWSB Managing Director Misbahuddin Farid discussed modalities of the project with the firm’s delegation headed by Yuming Sun at the water utility’s head offices, according to a KWSB press statement issued on Sunday.—PPI
