LAHORE, July 20: Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday (retired) has said that parliament cannot make any law contrary to fundamental rights of citizens and Islamic injunctions.

Speaking to members of the Lahore Bar Association at Aiwan-e-Adl on Friday, Justice Ramday asked politicians not to mislead the nation and saidthe Supreme Court could strike down any law contrary to the spirit of the Constitution.

He said lawyers’ movement of 2007 was not meant to bring the judges back to their jobs; it was for the supremacy of the Constitution.
