LAHORE, Dec 17: The city government will entrust the lifting of solid waste from Walled City and its transfer to the Mahmood Booti Bund landfill site to the private sector.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the executive district officers held here on Tuesday with Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood in the chair.
It was also decided to purchase tractors and containers for garbage lifting from the 30 rural union councils and invite bids for the purchase of garbage lifting and disposal machinery at a cost of Rs170 million. The government will prefer to buy the vehicles fitted with CNG kits.
The meeting decided to examine the recovery of sanitation fee through the Water and Sanitation Agency by including it in the water supply bills.
It was also decided to build public toilets near the Data Darbar.
The participants were informed that a computerized weigh bridge was being installed near the Mahmood Booti site with the assistance of the Punjab Information Technology Board for weighing the garbage lifting trucks.
It was decided that the towns would continue receiving the fee for the sanction of site plans.
