NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Dec 17: The growers of the Kot Lalo Minor, Chanari Minor, and Tetri Minor held a protest demonstration on Tuesday at the main bridge regulator, Nusrat Canal, Darya Khan Mari, to protest against the shortage of water and closing of minors for a month.
The protesters were led by Babu Khaskheli, Ali Nawaz Mari, and Seth Naeem.
The growers observed a sit-in on the bridge where they burnt tyres. They blocked the Darya Khan Mari-Naushahro Feroze-Nawabshah road for an hour.
They told newsmen that the three minors had been without water since a month as a result of which they had been incurring huge losses.
They said rotation had completely destroyed their crops.
They said they held a meeting with the executive engineer, irrigation, who had assured that water would be provided in these minors by Dec 17 but it was not.
Later, the Darya Khan Mari police arrived at the spot and assured the growers that their issue would be taken up with the higher authorities.
BODY FOUND: The body of a soldier, Mohammad Raheem, was found in an old well in the Khahi Raho village, about two kms from Naushahro Feroze, on Tuesday.
Mohammad Raheem was on leave. He was invited by his friend, Abdul Hadi, for dinner on Dec 13 but he never returned home.
On Tuesday, the villagers recovered his body from an old well which had been covered with branches.
The Naushahro Feroze police arrested Abdul Hadi’s brother, Abbas Larik, and his friend, Ramzan Rajput.
WOMAN DIES: A woman, Sikandar Siyal, died at the Civil Hospital, Naushahro Feroze, on Tuesday a few hours after she had been administered an injection.
On Monday, she had given birth to a baby boy by Caesarean section.
The following day, a ward boy, Anwar Ghangho, administered her an injection. After some time she died.
Several relatives of the woman went to the hospital and started protesting against the doctors.
The Naushahro Feroze police was asked to come to the hospital.
Medical Superintendent Dr Ghulam Rasool Almani and Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Punhal Panhwar tried to convince the woman’s relatives that the woman had not died because of the injection.
When this correspondent contacted Dr Almani, he said that his staff was not responsible for the woman’s death, and added that the doctor concerned had prescribed her an antibiotic injection, which was required after the Caesarean section.
KILLED: A man, Rustam Ali Bughio, 26, was killed by two of his cousins in Sindh Colony, Moro, on Sunday.
Rustam, a tailor master, was working at his shop when his cousins — Atif Bughio and Yasin Bughio — attacked him with an iron rod injuring him. One of them then opened fire with a pistol as a result of which Rustam was seriously injured and his father, Abdullah, too was injured.
