Motorcyclist killed

ISLAMABAD, July 14: A motorcyclist was killed after he was hit by a speeding vehicle at Islamabad Highway here on Saturday.

Ghairat Hussain, 50, suffered multiple injuries when a dumper hit him near Dhok Kalakhan.

As a result he fell on the road and later shifted to hospital for medical assistance where he was pronounced dead. The police impounded the dumper for further legal action.—Staff Reporter

Man dies in accident

TAXILA, July 14: One person was killed and three others injured in two incidents Wah Saddar police area.

A man was killed and his two companions were injured when a truck taking U turn on GT road near Wah Model Town rammed into a car coming from opposite direction.

As a result Shahid Mehmood died and his two companions Khalid Ali and Mohammad Tanveer were injured.

A man was shot and injured over old enmity in New City area in limits of same police station. —Correspondent

Ramazan bazaars

RAWALPINDI, July 14: The Punjab government on Saturday asked City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) to start procurement of wheat flour, sugar,pulses and basin to sell at Ramazan Bazaars at subsidised rates.

A senior official told Dawn that the provincial government would provide wheat flour at Rs230 per 10-kg bag at Ramazan Bazaar, Rs240 per 10-kg and Rs480 per 20-kg bag in open market.

He said the 20-kg bag of wheat flour was available at the market at Rs520 and Rs740 at Chaki. He said that the provincial government had tasked the CDGR to procure the commodity in sufficient quantity.

He said that the sugar would be discounted by Rs5 at Ramazan Bazaars.

He said that CDGR would procure the commodity from three sugar mills at Bahawalnagar, Sarghodha and Mandi Bahuddin.

The official said that the rates of pulses and Basin would be intimated two days before Ramazan. He said that the CDGR would procure these things on daily basis requirement. —A Reporter

Prices of food items

Rawalpindi, July 14: The City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) and traders agreed on Saturday to fix prices of different essential food items.

According to the agreed rates for open market, the retail price of rice super colonel new Rs107 per kilo, rice super colonel old Rs116 per kg, dal channa at Rs95 per kg, dal masoor at Rs94 per kg, dal mash at Rs130 per kg, dal moung at Rs114, basin at Rs112 per kg, milk at Rs60 per kg, curd at Rs65 per kg, ice at Rs10 per kg, pakoora at Rs170 per kg, samosa at Rs10 per piece, roti at Rs5 and naan at Rs6 and tea Rs12 per cup.

The meeting also decided that hoarding and black-marketing would be strictly checked.

The new rate lists will be provided to all the price magistrates and retailers would be bound to display the same prominently at their shops. —A Reporter
