LAHORE, July 14: A seven-event card has been drawn up for the day/night Lahore Summer Meeting to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday evening.
The Lahore Race Club (LRC) in order to make the sport transparent and cleanse it of malpractices has taken up measures by introducing a new rule binding on owners and trainers to declare at the time of acceptances of their horses “the gears they are to use on their charges” which may help them increase their speed or efficiency in the race.
Even the type of bandages and the shoes made of steel or aluminium to be used is to be declared at the same time.
The rule will be strictly enforced from Sunday and the detail of every gear put on the horses will be specifically mentioned in the race card for information of punters.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the horse-owners and people connected with the racing fraternity paid tributes to senior LRC steward Mian Abdul Waheed, who died recently.
Except the feature event, the Trigo Plate Class VI Division I which is to be gone over 1,100 metres, the other races will be contested over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres each.
The first race will be held at 4.30pm.
