Ephedrine quota case: Remand of four accused extended to July 25

RAWALPINDI: A Rawalpindi court extended the remand of four accused to July 25 in the ephedrine quota case.

The court resumed hearing of the ephedrine case here on Saturday. However, former director general health Rasheed Jumma failed to appear before the court to record his statement.

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) presented four accused Ansar Farooq, Iftikhar Babar, Abdul Sattar and Shaikh Ansar before the court, which extended their remand for another 11 days (until July 25).

It is pertinent to mention that the ANF had registered the case regarding the illegal quota of ephedrine in October 2011. MNA Ali Musa Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, and federal minister Makhdoom Shahbuddin are also among the accused. The court will resume the hearing for further proceedings on July 16.
