ISLAMABAD: Government allies and opposition on Friday staged a walkout from the Senate over the loss of innocent lives in an Awami National Party's (ANP) public gathering in Kachlak area of Quetta and the attack in Bajaur Agency by terrorists.

Speaking on a point of order soon after the question-hour, ANP's Daud Khan Achakzai said that workers from his party had died and several others were injured when a bomb went off in the party's public gathering in Kachlak ealier in the morning.

He said that the ANP believed in democracy and peaceful politics and never resorted to violence. He said a report about the incident should be sought within two days.

“We are boycotting till an investigation into the incident is made and a report is prepared and presented to the House.”

Zahid Khan seconded his ANP colleague, saying that the report should be submitted within two days. He alleged that the incident occurred due to lack of security.

As a protest over this incident and the attack in Bajaur Agency we are boycotting the session, he said.

Senator Hadayatullah from FATA also walked out of the House over the loss of innocent lives in Bajaur Agency. He said that the militants having sanctuaries in Afghanistan attacked the agency.

Opposition Leader Ishaq Dar, while condemning the Quetta, Bajaur and Lahore firing incidents, also announced to join the walkout.

Mushahid Hussain Syed of PML-Q said that the attack in Bajaur Agency was an incident of cross-border terrorism. He said instead of blaming each other, all political parties should sit together and devise a counter-terrorism mechanism.

Announcing to boycott the session, he said his party was joining the ANP in walkout to express solidarity with the victims of the attack.

Col (r) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi of the MQM also condemned the terrorist incidents in Quetta and Lahore and the killings of innocent people in Karachi.
