KUALA LUMPUR: Pakistan softball team’s head coach Asif Azeem has called for more international exposure and top level training courses for the country’s softball players, coaches and umpires which will help them attain the required standards in the sport.

Speaking at a reception organised by the Softball Confederation Asia’s Secretary General Sally Lim in his honour here, Asif said Pakistan despite its limited resources was ready to host international softball teams but needed encouragement at the world level to excel in the sport.

He added that softball was becoming quite popular among the Pakistani youth and both boys and girls were taking to the sport in a big way.

Lim, while praising the efforts of the Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP), said Pakistan softball team will be taking part in a four-nation event which will be staged in India during December this year.—Agencies
