Khyber tehsildar escapes blast

PESHAWAR, July 10: The tehsildar of Mulagori tehsil of Khyber Agency escaped a bomb blast on Nasir Bagh Road here on Tuesday morning.

An official of Nasir Bagh police station said the tehsildar was on way to his office at about 9:30am when his vehicle was targeted with a roadside improvised explosive device near Juma Khan Kallay. The vehicle was damaged but the official remained unhurt, he added.

He said that Nasir Bagh Road was closed for about one hour after the blast and search operation was conducted in the area but no arrest was made.

The actual target, he said, seemed to be the tehildar. A case was registered against unidentified terrorists.

Meanwhile, suspected militants blew up a primary school for girls at Mera Mashokhel on the suburbs of Peshawar in the small hours on Tuesday.

A resident of the area said that the school was located at a short distance from the residential locality. He said that militants planted a bomb at the school after midnight.

He said that the school was closed owing to summer vacations but there was no arrangement of security guard.

An official of Badhber police station said that the bomb was planted under the main pillar of the building that went off late at night and destroyed the entire building.

He said that police had reached the spot in the morning.

The blast site was located close to Khyber Agency and terrorists could easily escape to the tribal region after carrying out any sabotage act in the settled area, he added.
