LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday summoned a response from the federal government and the ministry of religious affairs on July 26 over a filed petition in the LHC pleading to stop implementation of Haj policy 2012, DawnNews reported.

The petitioner was of the view that this year’s Haj policy was not based on merit. He claimed that the policy will encourage nepotism as it lacks transparency. The pilgrims might face difficulties because of that, he added.

The petitioner pleaded the LHC that the implementation on the policy should be stopped.

The LHC approved the petition and directed the federal government and religious ministry to submit a response by July 26.
