Man gets life for killing mother, sister

KARACHI, July 9: A sessions court on Monday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his mother and sister.

The man, Mohammad Ali, was found guilty of killing his mother Jamila and sister Samina within the remit of the Gulberg police station in August 2007.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (central) Aaliya Latif Unar pronounced her verdict after hearing both sides.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 and in case of non-payment the convict would have to undergo to an additional one-year imprisonment.

The court in its verdict observed that the prosecution had placed ‘confidence-inspiring evidence’ in court and its case stood proved beyond a shadow of a doubt.

The accused had surrendered himself to the police after committing the offence and a few days later he recorded his confessional statement under Section 164 of the criminal procedure code before a judicial magistrate and confessed that he killed the victims to save what he described as his honour since he had his suspicions about their character.The court also extended the benefit of Section 382-B (period of detention to be considered while awarding sentence of imprisonment) of the CrPC to the convict.

A case was registered under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Gulberg police station.

The accused was produced in court in custody and following the pronouncement of the judgment he was remanded back to prison along with a conviction warrant to serve the remainder of his sentence.

Order reserved A sessions court reserved its order till July 11 on a bail application moved by an accused facing trial in a triple murder case.

Rehan Khan Niazi and Tazeen alias Jasmine have been charged with killing Advocate Fahim-ul-Karim, Wajid Mughal and Qurrat-ul-Ain alias Ainee in the apartment-cum-office of Mr Karim on Sept 5, 2011 in DHA.

The male accused, through his lawyer, moved an application before Additional District and Sessions Judge (south) Javed Ahmed Keerio, who reserved his order till July 11.

A case (FIR 340/11) was registered under Sections 302 and 34 (common intention) of the PPC at the Defence police station.
