LAHORE, July 8: In compliance with a Lahore High Court Order, the Young Doctors Association has finally announced to end its strike throughout the province from Monday (today), but with the warning that the agitation may be revived if their demands are not met.

An announcement to this effect was made by the YDA office-bearers, led by its president Hamid Butt, at a news conference here on Sunday night.

Mr Butt and others, however, declared that the association would announce its future course of action after the court hearing into their case on Monday.

They threatened if the government did not accept their demands they would go on a strike again.

Vowing they would continue their ‘struggle for a service structure’, they warned that in case of any unjust treatment meted out to the association by the provincial government they would also resume their fight against it.

They said saving lives had always been the top priority for doctors but they observed strikes only when forced. The YDA leaders demanded withdrawal of all cases against their colleagues, including the murder case against four Mayo Hospitalmedics.

Meanwhile, advisor to chief minister on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique has said the Punjab government has always considered doctors’ genuine demands sympathetically.

He said patients had to face immense hardships because of doctors’ stubbornness for 19 days.

He said Punjab government had always been taking all possible measures for doctors welfare.

The CM’s advisor said the government saluted the doctors who provided treatment facilities to the patients and served the ailing humanity during the YDA strike.
