Afghan peace depends on regional countries, says Khar

TOKYO, July 8: Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Sunday said that peace and stability in Afghanistan represented a “national objective” of Pakistan.

The minister, however, told the donors’ conference here that peace in Afghanistan depended in large part on the fulfilment of pledges made by countries in the region to refrain from using the Afghan soil to destabilise its neighbours.

Ms Khar announced that Pakistan would award scholarship to 1,000 Afghan students. She added that Pakistan would undertake the construction of 25 schools and 25 basic health units in Afghanistan.—APP
