ISLAMABAD, July 7:  Chairman of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Dr Anser Pervez has called upon the scientists to raise the level of their activities for development and prosperity of the country.

Speaking at the concluding session of the ‘International Nathiagali Summer College’ here on Saturday, the PAEC chief said science must be taken out from the labs and applied for the benefit of the mankind.

“Science is so far without restrictions and has no boundaries while in case of other things, there are restrictions like political, social and strategic bindings.  We must take advantage of this and enjoy science and enhance scientific activities in the country,” he said.

Dr Pervez said there was a need for converting and focusing the scientific knowledge towards the socio-economic needs.

The idea of holding the Nathiagali Summer College on ‘Physics and contemporary needs’ was initiated by Nobel Laureate Dr Abdus Salam for breaking the intellectual isolation of the scientists in developing countries and keeping pace with the rapidprogress in the science and contemporary needs by promoting higher science education.—Our Reporter
