LAKKI MARWAT, July 7: MPA Munawar Khan on Saturday threatened to quit Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz over the return of ‘turncoats’ to the party.
Speaking at a function organised in Achukhel village for the inauguration of the Rs3 million water supply scheme, Mr Munawar criticised PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif for letting turncoats rejoin the party and said the leadership had ignored sincere workers and leaders.
He regretted the leadership’s lack of esteem for workers, who remained loyal to them during General Musharraf’s dictatorial regime.
“Turncoats and newcomers with vested interests have replaced sincere workers and leaders,” he said.
The MPA said he would abandon PML-N if the leadership continued to accept turncoats.
He said he won the 2008 election as an indepen-dent candidate and joined PML-N by rejecting key ministries offered by the ruling party.
Mr Munawar blamed Saifullah brothers for backwardness of Lakki Marwat city and adjoining areas and said MNA Humayun Saifullah Khan had completely ignored urban and rural localities of his provincial assembly constituency during over the last four years.
He announced provision of funds for interlinking water supply schemes of Achukhel, Salarkhel and Wanda Ameer, the laying of waterlines and pavement of streets in Achukhel village.
Meanwhile, two unidentified passengers deprived a cabbie of his taxi at gunpoint on Manjiwala Link Road near Wanda Hajigul area late on Friday.
Mohammad Ayaz told police that two men booked his taxi in Tank for Bannu and snatched the taxi on return. He added that the taxi snatchers deprived him of cash and a cellphone.
Police registered a case and began investigation.
