IB official among 12 killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: In an ongoing wave of violence, Deputy Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB) Qamar Raza and eleven others were killed on Saturday in Karachi, DawnNews reported.

According to police, Qamar Raza, was ambushed by two unidentified assailants when he was returning from a walk to his apartment in Sharifabad.

The body has been shifted to hospital for medico-legal purpose.

Meanwhile, three real brothers were killed while the fourth one sustained serious injures in firing by unknown motorcyclists in Surjani Town.

According to police sources, three young brothers identified as Waqas, Abid Hamza and Saad were killed while Talha sustained serious injures in firing by unknown armed men at an Auto shop in Sector 7-E of Surjani Town.

The armed men riding on motorbikes managed to fled away after the incident.

The injured was shifted to Civil Hospital in a serious condition.

All the victims belonged to a banned religious organisation, police said.

Moreover, a woman was killed by firing from unidentified men in Baldia Town sector 12. In Liaquatabad unknown assailants opened fire on a public van, driver Muslim Khan was killed as a result.

Dead body of a man was found in Gulistan-i-Johar’s Mughal Hazara Goth. The victim identified as 35-year old Ali Madad.

A young man identified as Aamir was killed in Korangi while three others were murdered in Orangi Town, Sohrab Goth and Nipa Chowrangi area.

An eight-year old boy was killed and several others were injured by sporadic firing by unidentified terrorists in Orangi Town. There are also reports of firing incidents from P.I.B Colony injuring at least three people there.
