LAHORE, Dec 15: The Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) has condemned “interference of army generals” in the formation of Sindh government.
ARD deputy information secretary PPP leader Munir Ahmad Khan alleged while talking to reporters here on Sunday that Gen Ehsan, Gen Ehtesham Zamir and Principal Secretary to the President Gen Tariq Aziz were holding talks with the Functional League, the National Alliance, the Sindh Democratic Alliance and the MQM for formation of government in Sindh.
He argued that keeping in view the terms of the MQM, any deal with it was impossible without the approval of the president and the prime minister.
He regretted that the PML-Q had nominated such a person for the office of Sindh chief minister who had returned to the provincial assembly on the basis of a fake graduation degree while the person nominated as the Sindh governor was an absconder and wanted in the murder of many army officials.
About deputy speaker’s election in Sindh, Mr Khan said the authorities had violated all rules and regulations by extending the time allowed for filing nomination papers.
The establishment, which had declared the MQM a terrorist organization, was now trying to destroy MQM-Haqiqi on the demand of the same outfit, he said.
“The government was at its meanest when it arrested Haqiqi’s MPA Younus Khan on the assembly premises to appease the MQM,” he said.
Terming the MQM a separatist outfit, he recalled that it had abandoned the ARD saying that it did not believe in the 1973 Constitution and wanted to frame a new law on the basis of the 1940 resolution.
About the forward bloc in Sindh, Mr Khan said all tactics including the NAB threat and various incentives were being employed to force people to change their loyalties.
He said the maiden session of Sindh Assembly was convened after a record delay of 63 days, when the government had made it sure that it would win the offices of chief minister and speaker.
