LAHORE, July 4: The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has named a 39-member contingent which will represent the country in the upcoming London Olympics which commences from July 27. The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has not yet announced its final 18-member team for the Games since about twenty probables are attending the camp at Abbottabad, the list of athletes announced by the POA does not include the names of players Ali Shan and Mohammad Zubyr which means they will not be part of the national hockey team which will compete in London.

Two athletes, as many swimmers and one shooter will also compete in their respective events at the Olympiad, although as wild card entries.

Syed Aaqil Shah will accompany the squad as Chef de Mission while Mohammad Akhtar Nawaz will be secretary-cum-admin personnel.

Syed Mohammad Abid Qadri will be the contingent’s security liaison officer while Waqar Ahmed will be the medical personnel and Imran Ahmad the IT personnel of the squad.

The complete Pakistan contingent comprises the following athletes and officials:

Hockey: Imran Shah, Mohammad Irfan, Sohail Abbas (Captain), Kashif Shah, Mohammad Rizwan, Fareed Ahmad, Rashid Mehmood, Mohammad Tousiq, Mohammad Waqas, Shafqat Rasool, Abdul Haseem Khan, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Umar Bhutta, Shakeel Abbasi, Rehan Butt, Waseem Ahmad, Mohammad Imran, Imran Butt. Manager-cum-head coach: Akhtar Rasool Chaudhary. Coach: Khawaja Mohammad Junaid. Coaches: Ajmal Khan, Shahid Ali Khan. Physio: Faiz-ur-Rehman. Analyst: Mohammad Nadeem Khan.
