IHC orders arrest CDA's DG planning

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Monday ordered for the arrest of  the Capital Development Authority’s Director General (planning) Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu for his allegedly 'contemptuous behaviour' directed at the court, DawnNews reported.

A single judge bench headed by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC heard the land allotment case against Faisal Sakhi Butt, the chief coordinator of the former prime minister for Islamabad.

Sindhu had been accused of meeting with Butt who was a member of the prime minister’s task force to oversee the affairs of the CDA and who had later been barred from interfering in the development authority's matters.

Sindhu had denied contacting Butt, but allegedly maintained a discourteous attitude.

While giving his remarks on the proceedings, Justice Shaukat Siddiqui said that "firstly wrongdoings are committed" and "on top of that the court is  glared at, as if  everyone has become pharaoh in the CDA".

The court ordered the arrest of Sindhu and his shifting to Adiala Jail. The case's hearing was subsequently adjourned to July 13.
