HYDERABAD, July 1: The father of a 19-year old boy —who immediately needs liver transplantation — has appealed to philanthropists to give his son a new lease of life.

According to Ahmed Ali Mughal, who came to the press club here on Sunday to seek media’s help for his son Shahzad Ali, he did not have enough money to meet heavy expenses of liver transplant.

Mr Mughal, a policeman, showed a medical certificate issued by a noted gastroenterologist Dr Sadiq Memon which says:

“Shahzad Ali is suffering from the end-stage liver disease… He has been admitted several times in the emergency unit. He should be urgently evaluated for liver transplant.”

Mr Mughal, a resident of GOR colony, said his son had vomitted blood eight months ago. He was treated in a private hospital by Dr Memon who finally said that he needed liver transplant which could only be done in India. “It requires Rs6 million and I can not afford that amount,” he said.
