Six policemen suspended

LAHORE, June 29: The DIG (operations) suspended six policemen from service for dereliction of duty on Friday when he paid surprise visits to different mosques and police pickets in the provincial metropolis to check security arrangements.

According to a press release, DIG (Operations) Muhammad Tahir Rai also announced commendation certificates and cash prizes for four police officials for being alert on duty.

The DIG suspended Sub-Inspector Nazeer Ahmad who was taking rest under a tree instead of performing his duty at Masjid Gulzar-i-Madina, Gulshan-i-Ravi.

He also suspended SI Naveed, ASI Muhammad Anwar and constables Muhammad Imran, Ishfaq Ahmad and Kashif Munir for showing negligence while performing duty at Jamia Masjid Bilal, Sabzazar; Jamia Masjid Abubakr, Iqbal Town; and Jamia Masjid Gulzar Fatima, Wahdat Road; and directed SSP Operations Babar Bukht Qureshi to commence a departmental action against them.

The DIG announced cash prizes and CC-II certificates for SI Mohammad Munir, ASI Kamran, head-constable Mahmood Ahmad and constable Mohammad Shafique for displaying excellent performance at Double Sarak, Gulshan-i-Ravi, Samanabad Roundabout and Bhaikaywal Mor pickets, respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, the DIG said honest, hardworking and professional policemen were the asset of the police department who would leave no stone unturned to protect the lives and property of citizens. He warned that no negligence and lapses in connection with the security of mosques and other places of worships would be tolerated and the departmental action would be taken against such negligent officials.
