ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and ISAF have agreed to improve Pak-Afghan border security and coordination, ISPR said on Friday.

According to a joint statement released by ISPR, ISAF commander General John Allen called on Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and discussed matters of mutual interests.

The two sides expressed the willingness to achieve the joint targets set in the trilateral military conference, held last month.

It said Afghanistan and Pakistan will not allow the militants to build safe hideouts and that extremism and terrorism would be fully eliminated. Additionally, the meeting provided us perfect opportunity to refocus our attention on our continuing efforts to eliminate the corrosive effects of extremists operating on both sides of the border, said Gen Allen.

Both military officials exchanged views on ground realities relating to terrorism, it added.
