Rain turns weather pleasant in twin cities

RAWALPINDI, June 27: The residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad got relief from sizzling heat on Wednesday evening when the twin cities received first pre-monsoon rain turning the weather pleasant.

The rain was welcomed by the people who have been enduring scorching heat and loadshedding and children thronged the streets to enjoy weather.

The Meteorological Department had predicted light rain for the twin cities but in Rawalpindi it was significant. However, the federal capital received scattered rain.

The Met office had predicted thunderstorm/rain at isolated places on Wednesday.

The Tuesday’s pre monsoon rain also alerted Rawalpindito expedite work on dredging of Nullah Leh.

Managing Director Wasa Raja Shaukat Mehmood said that the entire Nullah Leh would be cleansed and widened by Friday in order to minimise the threats posed by flood in the natural drain.
