MANSEHRA, June 25: Two tourists on Monday drowned in the Kunhar River near Naran after their boat capsized due to flooding.

However, eight of their colleagues were rescued by local swimmers. According to eyewitnesses, 10 people were rafting in the river when powerful waves swept away their boat, prompting them to jump into the water.

Locals, including boatmen, came to their rescue and pulled eight of them out alive and Amir Sajjad, of Okara, dead. Search for Rehmatullah, of Lahore, continued, however.

“The body of Amir Sajjad has fished out of the river, while search for the other is in progress. The boat overturned due to flooding in the river,” Mustafa Khan, station house officer of Naran police station, told Dawn.
