Traffic constable shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI, June 25: A head constable of traffic police was shot dead in Mehmoodabad area late on Monday, officials said.

They said armed men on a motorcycle targeted 40-years-old Adil Sher Muhammad on a street near his home. He received a bullet in the head and died.

“It’s Sector H of Mehmoodabad where the firing incident took place,” said an official at the Baloch Colony police station. “The attackers sped away after the incident. The victim was head constable of the traffic police and posted in Saddar. The motive behind the killing is not yet clear.”

Meanwhile, two young men who were found murdered in Manghopir area on Sunday were identified as brothers of an alleged militant associated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.

“The bodies were identified as Naseeb Khan and Abdul Rahman, who were younger brothers of TTP commander in Karachi Sher Zaman,” said an official at the Manghopir police station. “Sher Zaman is wanted for his involvement in April 2012 bomb attack on SP Rao Anwar that killed four passers-by and injured 17 others in the city’s Malir area.”
