Dual nationality case: Zahid Iqbal’s membership suspended

ISLAMABAD: The hearing on dual nationality case continued in the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday. During the proceedings, the senate membership of Zahid Iqbal from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was suspended DawnNews reported.

Moreover, Member of the Senate, Jamil Malik, confessed that he holds Holland’s nationality, however, is not a citizen. The Chief Justice questioned his statement by asking “how can a person be a national and not a citizen of Holland”.

Jamil Malik submitted his reply on the dual nationality case.

Justise Jawwad S Khawaja remarked that people holding dual nationalities should not be a part of Pakistan’s assemblies.

Petitioner, Wahid Anjum, requested the court to collect records from Airport authorities and FIA.

Moreover, no one representing MNA Farhat Mehmood Khan and MNA Nadia Gabol came to the Supreme Court. whereas Rehman Malik was given some more time to submit his documents.

Rehman Malik's counsel, Anwar Mansoor, said that Rehman's British lawyer is on leave which is why he was unable to present the evidence and documents in the court and asked for more time. The court granted him the time to gather the evidence and adjourned the hearing until July 2.
