KARAK, June 19: The elders of seven villages of Banda Daud Shah tehsil have threatened to take action against Wazir tribe if it fails to return their stolen cattle within one week.

They told a jirga here on Tuesday that members of Wazir tribe, living along the border of Banda Daud Shah, were involved in stealing their cattle.

The residents and elders of Bahaderkhel, Charpara, Jala Banda, Noshpa, Khizar Banda, Darishkhel and Anar Banda attended the jirga.

The participants of the jirga said that Wazir tribesmen should return their seized cattle within a week otherwise they would be justified to take action against them.

Addressing the jirga, Malik Gul Ghani, Shaukatuallh, Malik Irfan and Tahir Khan alleged that Wazir tribesmen had made lives ofthe people of Khattak tribe miserable as they were taking away their cattle and committing crimes in their area.

They alleged that in the past Wazirs used to kidnap people from the area but now they were taking away their cattle heads.

The speakers said that criminals belonging to Wazir tribe came to the meadows situated in the nearby hills owned by Khattak tribe and took away their cattle.

They said that they had informed elders of Wazir tribe about the incidents but they didn’t take the issue seriously.

The jirga set a one-week deadline to the elders of Wazir tribe to return the cattle otherwise they would use force to bring the cattle back.Meanwhile, power supply remained suspended for more than 20 hours to most parts of the district.

The president of Qaumi Jirga Latamber has threatened to organise protest demonstration and block Indus Highway against prolonged power loadshedding.

Ishtiaq, a leader of the jirga, told Dawn that they held a meeting and devised a strategy for protest against the power outages.
