However, after around a couple of hours, the aircraft was cleared, it was learnt here.

According to sources, the Malaysian authorities had received information about suspicion activity in the PIA flight PK 896 which left Karachi for Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

When the plane landed at the Kuala Lumpur airport, it was taken to a secluded spot and passengers and aircraft were thoroughly checked and screened, but nothing was found.

Replying to Dawn queries, PIA spokesperson Sultan Hassan said that Malaysian authorities had probably received some hoax call and when the aircraft landed there, it was taken for checking and passengers were also screened, but nothing was found.

He said that after a delay of probably a couple of hours, the aircraft was on its return journey and was expected to arrive here late Sunday night.
