LAHORE, June 16: Energy sapping heat and the genie of power loadshedding exhausted people in Lahore on Saturday.

It was a veritable sun blaze and the wind was hot, making it no different under the shade. Indoors were like ovens amid power loadshedding which unleashed every after one hour.

The power suspension hour seemed much longer than the availability 60 minutes because of the inconvenience it generated.

And a majority of citizens remained sleepless last night because of the dual agony of sizzling heat and power outages.

There was no or less water supply in most areas because of the power loadshedding. Water stored in rooftop tanksturned hot and thus sparingly used.

The missing power also greatly affected functioning of refrigerators and UPSs.

There were a few lucky ones in the city though who remained unaffected by the harsh weather and power loadshedding because of diesel generators which kept their fans or even air-conditioners running in offices or homes.

The maximum temperature was 46 degrees and the minimum last night 30 degrees Celsius. The Met office said temperatures in the country were rising because of clear weather.

An approaching weak westerly wave was likely to generate dust thunderstorm/light rain over Malakand, Hazara, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismael Khan, Peshawar, Sargodha and Rawalpindi divisions in the next 24 hours. The impact of the wave could also reach Gujranwala and Lahore divisions to generate a similar brief soothing intervention.
