Giles to miss fourth Test also

LONDON, Dec 13: England left-arm spinner Ashley Giles will miss the fourth Test against Australia, which begins in Melbourne on Dec 26, officials said in a statement here Friday.

Giles sustained a broken wrist while in the batting in the nets against England team-mate Stephen Harmison ahead of last month’s second Test in Adelaide.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chief medical officer, Dr Peter Gregory, said: “The original medical advice was that the injury would take between three to six weeks to heal and this remains the case.”

Meanwhile, England fast bowler Darren Gough will not face any disciplinary action from the ECB after publicly criticising comments made by outgoing board chairman Ian MacLaurin.

During a television interview Gough said he was “disgusted” with MacLaurin after the ECB supremo accused Andrew Flintoff of not taking his recovery from a hernia operation with sufficient seriousness.—AFP
