SUKKUR, June 8: Five women, who arrived at Women Police Station here on Thursday evening to seek protection, have been lodged in Darul Aman.
Safia, wife of Misri Chachar, resident of Pano Akil, reached the police station with her two little children.
She told the in-charge of the police station that her husband frequently tortured her on one or the other pretext. She alleged that he wanted to kill her on the false charge of infidelity.
She said that her step father had sold her into marriage.
Naheed, of Pano Akil, said that her husband Shoukat Kalhoro wanted to kill her over the suspicion that she had illicit relations with his brother.
Uzma, wife of Misri Chachar, also of Pano Akil, complained of torture by her husband on a daily basis and expressed the fear that he may kill her.
Fehmida, wife of Abdul Jabbar, resident of Rohri, made similar complaints.
Aalia, wife of Waqar Solangi, resident of Chak town of Shikarpur district, said that her in-laws had started maltreating her after her marriage two years ago.
She said that she was tortured on Wednesday night and alleged that her in-laws wanted to kill her.
Ms Aalia said that she wanted to go to the house of her brothers.
Sources in the police station said that the women had been sent to Darul Aman and messages had been sent to their parents and husbands, asking them to visit the police station on Saturday.
Despite attempts, the in-charge of the police station, Zohra Shah, could not be contacted.
