ISLAMABAD, June 8: The Supreme Court was informed on Friday that the federal government had issued orders to immediately transfer Gilgit-Baltistan’s Inspector General (IG) of Police Hussain Asghar to the Federal Investigation Agency so that he could rejoin the probe into Haj scandal.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had taken up allegations of corruption and mismanagement in the arrangements made for pilgrims in Saudi Arabia in 2010.

During the last hearing the apex court had ordered the principal secretary to the prime minister to “recall” the notification about Mr Asghar’s appointment as the IGP of Gilgit-Baltistan if the officer refused to rejoin the investigations within three days.
