 Three bike riders killed

ISLAMABAD, June 5: Three motorcyclists were killed in different incidents in the twin cities on Tuesday.

In the first incident, two students of a religious school namely Zeeshan Khan, Amir Latif and Nasir Mehmood were going when their motorcycle crashed into a footpath due to over speeding in the Race Course police area.

Resultantly, they received serious injuries and were removed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) where Zeeshan Khan and Amir Latif were pronounced dead while Nasir Mehmood is stated to be in a stable condition.

The police said that the families of the victims did not want to get a case registered saying that it was their fate.

In another incident, Sarwar Ataullah, 18, a resident of Shakrial, suffered multiple injuries when a speeding fire tender hit him at Burma Bridge on Lehtrar Road. As a result he received severe injuries while the driver of Islamabad Fire Brigade vehicle escaped from the scene.

Later, he was shifted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police impounded the vehicle and launched a search to arrest the driver.

The police said that the fire tender driver was not on emergency duty despite that he was driving the vehicle rashly. — Dawn Report

Woman commits suicide

CHAKWAL, June 5: A woman committed suicide by taking poisonous pills, sources said on Tuesday. Halima Bibi, the resident of Chatal village was in distress due to domestic problems. On Monday night, she took poisonous pills and died.

Meanwhile, another woman, Fehmida Begum, the resident of Panjain village also took poisonous pills. She was rushed to the DHQ hospital from where she was referred to Rawalpindi due to her critical condition. — Correspondent

Man drowns

RAWALPINDI, June 5: A young man drowned in a mini-dam while going across it in Chontra area on Tuesday.

Mohammad Abbas, 20, was grazing buffalos near a mini dam when he decided to go across the water by holding a buffalo’s tail.

Atif Mehmood, the elder brother of the victim said that Mohammad Abbas when reached in the middle of the water, the tail got slipped from his hand and he drowned in the water. Later his body was fished out and handed over to his family.

Meanwhile, a man was stabbed to death allegedly by his rivals in the Civil Line police, police said.

Khalid Bhatti was standing in the street when his rivals Javaid Deen and his son Waheed Javaid appeared on the scene and stabbed Khalid Bhatti killing him on the spot. The alleged killers escaped from the scene. — Staff Reporter

Fraudster arrested

ISLAMABAD, June 5: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday arrested a fraudster for taking Rs600,000 from a candidate for providing him job in the bureau.

“The accused Mohammad Yousuf claimed that he was a driver of one Usman, an official of an intelligence agency,” said the NAB spokesman Zafar Iqbal.

He said the accused Usman in connivance with arrested person had looted the candidate from Karachi who applied for the post of an assistant director (BS-17) in NAB. “The accused lured the victim for appointment in NAB as assistant director in exchange of Rs600,000,” the spokesman said.

Replying to a question the NAB spokesman said that it was yet to be ascertained whether the main accused was an officer of the spy agency.

According to details, the arrested driver acted as middleman between the candidate and the main accused and assured the candidate that she will be inducted in the bureau. The deal was finalised a month ago somewhere in Blue Area. — Staff Reporter
