ISLAMABAD, June 4: Brilliant Aqeel Khan and talented Sara Mansoor clinched the Vigo Champ Subh-e-Nau National Tennis titles at the Islamabad Club late Sunday night.

Seasoned Aqeel played some brilliant strokes to outscore his opponent Abid Ali Akbar in straight sets in the men’s singles final which was played under lights.

This was the first instance in Islamabad’s national tennis history when a tennis final was played under lights.

Aqeel’s opponent Abid started briskly by taking the first two games of the first set.

However, Aqeel soon came into his own and started playing his natural game to which Abid had no answer.

Aqeel, with this title, has completed a hat-trick of SN tennis titles in 2012.

He has already won SN national tennis at Karachi in February and SN national clay court tennis title in May this year.

Second seed in national ranking, Sara Mansoor, bagged ladies singles title after beating top seed Saba Aziz.

Saba, who has not been in very good touch, did put up some resistance in the second set but that was not enough to check Sara who raced to victory in straight sets.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Ahmed Babar outclassed Talha Zubair of Navy in a one-sided final of boys’ U-18 category.

Talha who had a brilliant run in the tournament could not convert his efforts to become a title winner.
