TIMERGARA, June 1: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company has announced to launch a campaign to recover its Rs246 million dues of last five years in Lower Dir.

The announcement was made by XEN Pesco Riaz Kakar while speaking at a safety seminar of Wapda workers here the other day. All sub-divisional officers and Pesco employees were present on the occasion.

Mr Kakar said that the Wapda had Rs18.69 million outstanding dues against government departments and Rs 227.43 million against domestic consumers in Lower Dir district. He said that the recovery campaign would be launched in the next few days.

The Pesco official advised defaulters, including government departments, to clear their dues pending for last five years. He warned that in case otherwise their power supply would be disconnected.

On this occasion, he asked the workers to use safety equipment like helmet, belt, boats, gloves etc to save themselves from danger. He even advised the workers to avoid orders from the authorities for any repair if they had no safety equipment on the spot.

Mr Kakar said that 3,500 electricity meters were functional in the district, while there had been a demand for more meters. He said that a new transformer had been installed at the Saddo grid station, which would start functioning soon.

He said work on Toormang-II and Mayar feeders was underway, while another feeder for Lal Qilla had been approved. He said that the problem of low voltage and loadshedding would be resolved to a great extent with the completion of these projects.
