I WAS reading some newspapers a few days back from which I came to know about the chairman of the CDA's visit to a foreign country. He announced that he would make Islamabad's roads signal-free like he had seen in the country he visited.

I shifted to G-15 from G-7 some time back. The sector has no direct access to the Kashmir Highway (which becomes the Motorway Link Road). People have to first get on to GT Road to be able to have access to the Kashmir Highway which is extremely difficult because of the huge traffic on GT Road.

When we have access to the Kashmir Highway, we have to pay toll tax for entering Islamabad. This is a daily reminder that we are not residents of Islamabad. If we are, then how come we are charged for entering another sector of Islamabad? After paying the toll, we have to stop at every traffic signal along the way to Zero Point.

Now, thankfully, work on widening of the Kashmir Highway has started. It would be so generous of the CDA if it gave direct access to G-15 residents to the Kashmir Highway by removing all traffic signals which residents have to deal with on a daily basis.

Either underpasses or flyover bridges can solve this problem once and for all. Besides, the CDA should order the toll plaza to stop receiving any tolls from vehicles bearing an Islamabad registration number.
