The meeting was adjourned to Monday, DawnNews reported.The meeting, chaired by Khursheed Shah, was held in Islamabad. Shah told the meeting that Zahid Qurban Alvi had excused himself from being appointed as the CEC.He said “according to the ‘rules of business’ the decision of the CEC's appointment would have to be taken within a period of 14 days.”The committee’s chairman said that six names, recommended by the government and the opposition, were under consideration for the appointment.Shah hoped to reach a consensus with the Muttaihida Qaumi Movement (MQM) over the appointment issue. The government would recommend another nominee for the office after Alvi’s rejection, he added.
