LAHORE, May 31: Three people, including a woman, were murdered in different parts of the city on Thursday.
Police shifted the bodies for autopsies and registered cases.
Manawan police said 43-year-old Akram of Kot Dhoni Chand was shot dead by brothers of his ex-wife following a divorce dispute.
Five other people, including Fazal and Nadeem, were also injured after the suspects attacked them with clubs during ‘Panchayat’.
Police inquiries showed that Akram married Faiza, also a resident of a Manawan village, a few years ago, but the couple had sour relations.
Frequent quarrels led to the breakup between them some time ago, but their three children were in the custody of Akram.
On the day of incident, Faiza’s brothers Shahzad and Kashif reached Akram’s place along with accomplices and held a Panchayat for the custody of children. During discussion, both sides exchanged hot words and suspects attacked Akram and his relatives with clubs. One of them also opened fire on Akram who succumbed to his wounds at hospital.
Police managed to arrest Kashif and Shahzad and booked six people in a case.
In another incident, Factory Area police said Saba was shot dead by her brother Umer Draz over domestic issues in Gulistan Colony.
The family told the police the sister and brother had quarrelled a few times in the past over minor issues, but parents brought about reconciliation between them.
Police have registered a case against Umer Draz, who deals in property business along with his father, Rafaqat.
Shahdara police said 28-year-old Abdullah was gunned down by his younger brother Yasir following a monetary dispute in Shaukat Colony.
Police said Yasir had been asking Abdullah to return his Rs7,000 and they had quarrelled over the issue a few times in the past. The shooting took place after they again exchanged words on Thursday.
Police took the suspect into custody along with murder weapon.
