Pakistan wants stable Afghanistan, peace in region: Kaira

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Wednesday said that Pakistan wants to see a stable Afghanistan and peace in the region.

Speaking to a private news channel he said that peace and stability in Afghanistan is in the interest of Pakistan.

Kaira said that Pakistan had made unprecedented sacrifices in the war on terror.

Pakistan, he added, wants friendly relations with all the countries including the United States.

He said that Pakistan will never compromise on its sovereignty and integrity.

Qamar Zaman Kaira said Pakistan has rendered huge sacrifices in the war against terror and it must be recognised by all.

Replying to a question over Balochistan issue, he said that Pakistan Peoples Party's government is making all out efforts to bring progress, prosperity and development for the people of the province.

He said β€œIt was the effort of the PPP leadership which addressed the grievances of the Baloch leaders.”

Replying to another question about high inflation and loadshedding, he said that the government is taking steps to reduce loadshedding and inflation.

He said that Chinese companies are taking keen interest in the energy sector and added that several projects would be completed in near future to meet the growing demand of electricity in the country.

Replying to another question regarding missing persons, he said these people will return to their homes soon.

He said the government is working for progress, prosperity, development and economic stability of Pakistan and for this objective, all important steps are being taken.

To a question, he said President Asif Ali Zardari during his recent visit to United States had upheld the country's image, sovereignty and dignity.

He said the president had conveyed the sentiments of the people of Pakistan and of the parliament during Nato summit in Chicago.
