KUALA LUMPUR: Pakistan rugby team begin their campaign here against India in the Asian Five Nations Div III tournament.

In the first match of the day on Wednesday, Guam take on Indonesia while arch-rivals Pakistan take on India in the second match which promises to be a thriller.

The winner of both matches go to the final of Div II while the losing teams play for the third and fourth positions.

Pakistan team’s Irish coach Justin Fitzpatrick said he is hoping for a fine show from his squad because he has worked hard with them for this event.

“I am with this team since the last seven weeks and it is definitely doing well. I think if they play to their potential, they can beat any side,” said Justin at the media briefing.

Captain Arsalan Zahid, also speaking on the occasion, said his team is very excited about the event.

“This is a big match for us against India and Pakistan Rugby is keen to make an impact here. We know if we win, we have a chance to go into the qualifying rounds of Rugby World Cup 2015,” he said.—Agencies
