LADHA, May 28: A four-year-old girl was burnt to death when a tent village of internally displaced persons caught fire in Nurses area of South Waziristan Agency on Monday.
The fire erupted in one of the tents which soon engulfed the other nearby tents. As a result eight tents along with households were reduced to ashes. The girl, daughter of Anar Gul Mehsud, was burnt to death after being caught in the flames.
MEASLES OUTBREAK: Two children have died of measles while over a dozen others have been suffering from the disease in Shaktoi area of South Waziristan.
According to locals Syed Wali and Malak Abbas, two children identified as three-year-old Asma and three-year-old Asmatullah have died from the disease so far.
In this respect a jirga of elders went to the North Waziristan political agent to seek his help but he said the area was in the jurisdiction of South Waziristan administration.
However, Ladha sub-division APA Nawab Safo told Dawn that he would talk to the higher authorities to send medical teams to the far-flung area on priority basis.
