KARACHI, May 28: National champion Waseem Khatri retained his Chishty Memorial Scrabble title by annexing the second edition of the competition held at the Beach Luxury Hotel here on Sunday.

Waseem won seven matches and had a spread of 772 points. M. Inayatullah clinched the second position with seven wins and a spread of 355 points while Yasir Jamshed was third with six wins and a spread of 438.

A salient feature of this tournament was that five players in the top 10 happened to be teenagers.

In the junior category, Sumbul Siddiqui, who finished second last year, stood first while Vali Mohammad and Tasarunn Munir finished second and third, respectively.
