LAHORE, May 26: Outgoing Lahore High Court chief justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed has said people should endeavour to overcome problems and difficulties in their way of advancement and personal growth.
He expressed these views at a farewell ceremony held in his honour by the Punjab Bar Council on Saturday.
Justice Saeed said he had been elevated to the exalted office of the apex court by breaking stillness and stagnation that had become a norm of almost all his predecessors. “It is my suggestion that no one should be stayed at one point and keep struggling to take on new journey,” he said.
He further suggested the bar members that an advocate could learn by three different ways; one from senior lawyers, second from watching them arguing in courts and third by studying in libraries.
“Today I congratulate this council that its licence-holder is being elevated to the Supreme Court of Pakistan as a judge,” Justice Saeed said. He said there should be unity between the bar and the bench so that all the issues and problems could be solved effectively.
LHC Chief Justice-designate Umar Ata Bandial said legal fraternity should be tolerant and through this way it would be able to serve the country. He said there were few people who tarnished the image of the legal fraternity.
Earlier, Punjab Bar Council vice-chairman Malik Ghulam Abbas Nassoana, hosting the ceremony, appreciated the role of Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and also expressed his best wishes for Umar Ata Bandial.
